Sun, April 28: Lehigh Valley Half Marathon (13.1miles)
Sun May 5: Tricky Triangle (Pocono) Half Marathon or 5K
Sat MAY 11: Palmerton Community 5K, Fun Run/walk (3.1miles)
Group Training will be available with Dedicated Fitness for:
BEGINNERS– looking to learn to run, build to the 3.1miles on May 11
Beginner/Intermediate Exercisers—looking for a group program to Train for a
Half Marathon. (If you are interested, email firstname.lastname@example.org)
Volunteer coaches will be available
6:15pm Tue, 6:15pm Thurs evenings
and 9:30am Sat mornings in March, 8:15am in April for the program.
Today's Gym Superhero goes to... Sara (Wondertwin) Nansteel!
My website guy, aka something like my 16yr old nephew, has finally gotten me to the point of understanding how to use the Blog! So.. I plan to attend to the Blogs more regularly. Wasn't sure what to post first, so I thought I would post a bit of inspiration!
When Sara first came to the gym, about 8years ago, she had not much interest in smiling, not much interest in sweating, and exercise and healthy lifestyle choices were a bit foreign to her.
She did however, have a DESIRE to change her current lifestyle! She didn't change overnight, it took constant encouragement and support, will power, and breaking old habits and developing new more positive ones. She had an idea of wanting get healthy... I had the plan! If you ask her, she had no idea what i had in store for her over the next few years!
Sara went from not being able to do a basic sit-up, squat, pushup or pull-up... running with the gait of a "non-athlete," and her body did not know how to sweat! She had no competitive drive in her... it took years to get her to want to do better for Herself!
Since then, she consistently sets new goals for herself... every time she achieves something she set out to do, she doesn't stop there, she creates new goals! Sara is a gym super hero... if you get to see her workout, it is mesmorizing... her little body is jacked... femininely cut! But stronger than many of the guys in the gym ;-) she will love that I just said that! Sara is a dedicated person, she never finds excuses to miss a workout, we have even made modifications for her to workout through limitations she may have had. Sara now does pushups and pullups by the hundreds, rope climbs, olympic lifts, spins, and usually leaves psyched for her next workout! She has gone from barely being able to run around the block, to running her first 5K, 3miles, to doing all the races in between, up to a 13.1mile, half marathon event! Even went to Las Vegas to run!
Sara took on riding her bike on the road and off road, and assists in the team triathlon events! This wasn't easy, as riding on the road was completely foreign to her, especially on a tiny road bike!
If you see Sara, give her a shout out! Everything is possible: if you have a desire... you can't wish it to happen, or hope it to happen, or wait for it to happen... You must Make it happen by taking Action!
Don't be mistaken, if you hear her when she is working out, you may assume she hates not only me, but the workout too! Why is she complaining so much... because she is challenging herself... she is choosing to push herself just beyond her comfort zone! The difference between those who get results, and those who don't!
